Provide Support for Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA). These IRS-certified free tax preparation sites prepare tax returns for low-wage families for free, and do not offer Refund Anticipation Loans. Free tax preparation services are offered by nonprofit community agencies staffed by trained and IRS-certified volunteers.

Campaign Helps Thousands of Taxpayers. The National Tax Assistance for Working Families Campaign is a free tax preparation that has helped thousands of taxpayers avoid tax preparation fees and refund anticipation loans. Of new Campaign participants, more than 40 percent used a paid tax preparer the previous year, and of those, over 40 percent received a refund anticipation loan.
